BUG Chase
The Fort Myers Metro-McGregor Kiwanis held the annual Calusa BUG Chase 5K on January 25 to benefit the club’s Bring Up Grades program and other youth service projects. More than 400 people participated, a record, and raised more than $9,000.

Make-A-Wish Southern Florida surprised Renel Calixte with a drum set during the Florida Gulf Coast University men's basketball team's halftime in the game against North Alabama on February 29. Renel loves playing the drums, but his set was broken. So when the 14-year-old Naples made his wish, he wished for a seven-piece drum set and a party to celebrate with family and friends. Make-A-Wish makes dreams come true for critically ill children. Renel has a blood disorder.
