Women’s March & Celebration

A march to commemorate women's rights. The march starts and finishes in Cambier Park in Naples, assembling at the park at 9 a.m. The march starts 10 a.m. and the route goes south on Sixth Street South, turns west on Eighth Avenue South, north on Third Street South to Fifth Avenue South and back into Cambier Park.
Speakers include Haitian-American author and international speaker Dr. Juniace Sénécharles Étienne; noted environmentalist and member of the Miccosukee Tribe of Florida Betty Osceola; President & CEO of Planned Parenthood of Southwest & Central Florida Stephanie Fraim; Lupe Gonzalo of the Coalition of Immokalee Workers; Immokalee-based educator, pastor and author Lori Snell; Michaela O’Brien of Students Demand Action, and Anna Barry representing the National Alliance on Mental Illness, also known as NAMI.
Live music is provided by the all-female R&B band Women Don’t Conform and Collier County Indie band The Woodwork.
Additional features of this year’s celebration include an awards ceremony recognizing 15 local female leaders who have proven, sometimes through decades of service, their devotion to bettering the community.
In addition, filmed testimonials of a multi-ethnic, diverse group of students, adults and teachers will be produced by the Media Department of the Lorenzo Walker Technical College for display on large flat-screen TVs from the stage.
There will be vendors selling merchandise, nonprofits tabling and dispensing information and food trucks.
Collier Freedom is the lead organizer with help from Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ); SWFL Justice4All Coalition; Planned Parenthood of Southwest & Central Florida; Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America; Students Demand Action; Naples Pride; Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Greater Naples and others.
