Seminole Shootout Battle Reenactments and Rodeo
John Jimmie Memorial Arena and Immokalee Youth Camp 1195 E. Main St., Immokalee Reservation, Florida 34142
Presented by the Seminole Tribe of Florida, the Seminole Shootout brings together reenactors in soldier and warrior attire with authentic weapons and tactics, plus pyrotechnics to simulate cannon blasts. They reenact a typical battle from the Second Seminole War, which ranged from 1835 through 1842 and is the longest and costliest Indian conflict in U.S. history.
Reenactment events are slated for 11:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Friday, March 6, as well as 12:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 7 and Sunday, March 8. Friday is reserved for students and admission is free with advanced reservations.
This is the third year it will be held on the Immokalee Seminole Reservation. All events will be held at the John Jimmie Memorial Arena and the Immokalee Youth Camp, 1195 East Main Street, Immokalee, adjacent to the Seminole Casino Hotel Immokalee.
In addition, the Seminole Shootout includes rodeo events on Saturday, with Bulls and Broncs scheduled for Sunday. Musical entertainment is provided by Rita Youngman, along with alligator wrestling, craft and food vendors, historical and cultural displays, as well as Seminole and soldier camps.
Cost: Tickets, which include the battle reenactments, rodeo and all other activities, are $20 and available online at www.seminoleshootout.com. Tickets for seniors are $15 on Friday and $15 for veterans on Saturday. Children younger than 12 are admitted free.
The Immokalee Seminole Reservation is located 30 minutes east of Naples via County Road 846 (Immokalee Road) or just over 30 minutes southwest of Fort Myers via State Roads 82 and 29.
