The day after Halloween is tough for trick-or-treaters. You stay up late having fun and eating candy, and then you have to wake up early the next day to go to school. Well, that could be a thing of the past if one Florida senator gets her way.

State Sen. Annette Taddeo filed a bill that, if it becomes law as is, would require district school boards to designate the day after Halloween as a school holiday, unless Halloween falls on a Friday or Saturday.
The Senate Bill 1462 would take effect July 1, 2020, but since Halloween is on a Saturday this year, families wouldn't see the effect of it until 2021, when Halloween is on a Sunday.
Taddeo represents District 40 in Miami-Dade County.
